Why Use Wood in Smokers
If you’re into low-and-slow cooking, the type of wood you use makes all the difference. Whether you're smoking brisket on an offset smoker, cold-smoking fish in a ceramic BBQ, or slow-roasting aubergines with sweet smoke, hardwood logs bring depth, aroma, and character to your food.
All our smoking woods are kiln-dried to under 15% moisture, which means clean, steady smoke with no resin flare-ups or acrid flavours. There are no additives — just pure, FSC-certified hardwood for consistent burns and real wood-fired flavour.
Wood Options Explained
- Oak: Strong and earthy, oak is ideal for red meats, game, and hearty cuts. It delivers bold smoke and a deep flavour profile that builds over time.
- Birch: A touch of sweetness and light smoke makes birch a great match for poultry, vegetables, or fish. It burns bright and clean, adding subtle flavour without overpowering.
- Ash: Neutral and versatile, ash works with just about anything. If you're new to smoking or want a balanced, non-dominant smoke, ash is a reliable option.
All logs are approx. 25cm in length, sized for kamado grills, offset smokers, ceramic BBQs and smoking boxes.
